In celebration of our 40th anniversary, the Kirribilli Centre is holding an art prize, with a generous prizepool including a Brett Whitely studio six-week life drawing course, and a first prize of $3000.
The stunning historical building that we have been lucky enough to use as the Kirribilli Centre since our official opening in 1975, will become an art gallery from Friday May 6th to Sunday May 8th in order to showcase the shortlisted entries. The art show will utilise the Gallery, with its stunning stone walls and views across the bridge, the Trelawney room with its historical high ceilings, and the lovely Thornton and McManus rooms, located upstairs on the west side of the building. Everyone is welcome to view the exhibition, which promises to showcase some amazing Australian talent - This is a free event.
The Centre has always encouraged local artists and has had a long held passion for the creative members of our community. We are extremely excited to be able to display your artworks in our beautiful building.
Judging will be by renowned artist Peter Browne, and the winner will be announced on the Friday night of the exhibition weekend. Artwork will be available for sale over the exhibition period. All patrons will be invited to vote for their favorite artwork and a people's choice winner will be awarded at the close of the exhibition. We haven't forgotten about our young artists either. There will be a separate young artist award for entrants under 16 years of age.
