NDIS Help and Support

We will no longer be running the regular drop-in NDIS information sessions at the Kirribilli Centre. However, please continue to contact the Bradfield Park Carers Program for referral information around accessing the NDIS. This service is open to all carers and care-recipients.

Peer Support Work for Carers

The Bradfield Park Carers Program is looking to initiate a Carer Peer Support Network. Currently we are taking expressions of interest from carers who may be interested to attend training for voluntary Peer Support roles.

Contact us if you would like to know more. We will soon hold a meeting to gauge support and availability to attend training. Thank you to everyone who has responded already.

The Business Case for Peer Support1

In Australia the mental health peer workforce is growing. There are increasing opportunities for both paid and voluntary peer workers in the public, non-government, not for profit and private sectors. The need for peers to fill these roles has increased as organisations come to recognize the value of engaging workers who have lived experience with the mental health system as consumers and carers.

We are offering two opportunities, of which this is the second, for people to hear this information, so if you can’t make it to one please book for the other.

Counselling

Need someone to talk to? Sessions are available with one of the Carers Program's qualified support workers. Counsellors can assess the respite needs of carers, provide short term counselling, make relevant referrals to other services, and generally support carers in accessing the programs, activities and services appropriate to meeting their individual needs, and the needs of their families.

Access to our free service is by way of referral from other organisations, health professionals, friends or family, or by contacting us directly. All information is treated confidentially and only anonymised data that cannot be used to identify you is sent to our funding body.
