Come and join our beautiful guided nature walk, at the best season for wildflowers in North Head.  This is an exciting joint event with You You Club, Chinese Carers Group.  We will immerse ourselves in the sanctuary of North Head National Park while meeting new carers, catching up with familiar faces, and later enjoy conversations over lunch with an outstanding ocean view.  Cost: $10 per person.  Carers Only.

Join us for a fascinating two-hour guided tour of Wollondilly Heritage Centre & Museum (with a break for Devonshire Tea!!) to learn about Australia’s pioneering roots. Included in the museum’s collection are extensive photographic records, local family history, specialised collections such as Burragorang, Yerranderie and Coal Mining indigenous history of the Gundungurra people. "Don't Make It Worse!"

This is an 8 week DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) integrated skills training for carers of someone with a mental illness who want to acquire effective skills to manage themselves in overwhelming situations.  

Three areas of DBT skills being focused on in this program: 

  • Mindfulness 
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Emotion Regulation  

Commitment to participate in all 8 weeks sessions is essential.  
An individual interview will be conducted in order to assess suitability prior to the program.

Registration closes on Friday 7th October 2016 at 5:00PM

Gold & silver medalist and highly experienced table tennis coach, Stephen Tai will again teach us the fundamental techniques to make our game of table tennis enjoyable & fun, whilst keeping fit.  Besides the physical health associated with the game, table tennis helps to train the mind, strengthen eyesight, increase motivation as you expand your social circles.  Join us at The Kirribilli Centre, where there will be time to chat about your newly acquired table tennis skills with your fellow trainees, over a light lunch at a nearby cafe, at the end of the session. We all had such a good time the last time this was run that we are putting this opportunity on again.

Join us for a relaxing lunch and conversation at the historic Kirribilli Club, founded in 1943 for Australian Defence Force personnel and their families local to the Kirribilli/Milson’s Point area. It has seen many changes over the decades and has evolved into a club for all of the community. The venue overlooks our stunning Sydney Harbour and is also next to Wendy Whiteley’s ‘Secret Garden’. We have arranged for a private SignaturePhoto Smartphone Photography workshop for carers around Darlinghurst and Paddington in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. During this informal, hands-on

3 hour workshop we capture a variety of subjects including quirky close-ups and street photography as we walk through the architectural laneways of inner city Sydney suburbs of Darlinghurst and Paddington. You will learn how to create different effects at the time of taking a photo with your iPhone/Samsung phone and also how to edit images on your phone in interesting and creative ways.

This workshop will involve a lot of walking. Young adult carers are encouraged to apply.

Pets as Therapy at Kissing Point, Putney Barbecue area

One of our carers, Neil Yakalis, will bring his Golden Retriever along and run a Pets as Therapy informal session with the Mens Group. This will be followed by a barbecue lunch. Travel to and from the venue will be by ferry, which we can take from the Luna Park Wharf or if you prefer you can drive to the event.

The Kirribilli Centre is located only 260 meters, or 3 minutes walk from where we were and enables us to flexibly cater to the needs of carers in many more ways.
All our programs are continuing normally, except we are now be located in this wonderful heritage listed building in Kirribilli.

Healing Your Life is a nurturing workshop designed to meet the needs of people seeking peace and healing after a traumatic experience, or who live with depression, anger, despair or some other challenging emotion. Carers will stay in shared accommodation. Transport will be by coach from Bradfield Park to Bundanoon and return.

We’ll be having an enjoyable time putting around the mini golf range, followed by
lunch. We’ll meet at Bradfield Park and go by mini bus to the Golf Centre, play some
mini golf and then have a relaxing lunch before returning back to Bradfield Park. This
will be a fun time and there is absolutely no previous experience necessary.

Crows Nest TAFE Outreach Program has generously put together a workshop on Digital Technology and computers, specifically designed for Bradfield Park Carers.  You will cover topics including social media, internet sites, security issues, smart phones and other things. Computers and an experienced Crows Nest TAFE facilitator will be available, for one morning only.  Following the workshop, you will be able to share your newly acquired skills over lunch.  Great opportunity to upskill in IT, whilst catching up with old friends or meeting new ones.

Come for a day full of fun at Golden Ridge Animal Farm in Dural and experience farm life for a day. Handle baby chicks, ducklings and rabbits and feed some of the larger animals. Learn to milk a cow and bottle - feed baby lambs and goats. Enjoy a sausage sizzle lunch followed by an Egg Hunt and Musical Hay Bales!!

Retired psychologist, Satu Beverley travelled to Finland in 2011 to see how Open Dialogue works in practice.  She became convinced that it achieves the best outcomes in the treatment of mental illness in the world.  Since then she has personally used Open Dialogue approach successfully in Australia. Satu has spoken on this topic at various events and now we invite you to join us for Satu’s informative presentation and afternoon tea at The Kirribilli Centre, Kirribilli. Men's Group at the Australian Aviation Museum

We are going to the Australian Aviation Museum at Bankstown, followed bylunch at Bankstown RSL on Wednesday the 16th of March. Please note that the date and times have changed for this event.

We will meet at Bradfield Park before travelling by minibus at 10am to the Museum and after to lunch and then return to Bradfield Park by about 3pm. The museum has an extensive collection.
